Streambuilding

Jennifer King

Corporate Training Director

With more than 25 years in project management, Jennifer King brings a wealth of experience to our Challenge Course Corporate Training Programs. Jennifer’s background in technology, manufacturing, and construction, led her to develop an adaptable teambuilding program, called Streambuilding©. Streambuilding is for businesses who are serious about investing in the growth and development of their employees and in creating a more inclusive company culture as well as helping their teams to self-organize and adapt processes and systems to efficiently reduce costs and increase quality performance.

Jennifer’s experience has shown that effective teams possess strong skills in Communication, Collaboration, Community, and Responsibility. If any of these 4 areas are lacking, the team suffers. Jennifer created a pre-event assessment to discover which area(s) your team needs to work on. From those scores and the information from the Team Questionnaire she provides to team managers, Jennifer creates a training program unique to that group’s particular needs.

Using the Streambuilding Philosophy, Jennifer implents all 4 types of learnings styles into the program (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and reading/writing) so each member of the team has an opportunity to learn the information provided in the style that suites them best.

Call Jennifer today to see if this training program is what your company needs at 385-230-4097 or send an email to jcking4097@gmail.com.

Teambuilding is available in 4, 6, or 8 Hour durations. Due to the nature of the Streambuilding Program seats are limited to 4-16 participants at a time. Please call Jennifer to discuss options if your team is larger than 16 and/or your time budget is limited.

GROW IN CONFIDENCE

When teams accomplish a group challenge, their sense of confidence in each other and themselves grows! The Challenge Course is the perfect place to have fun and learn new skills at the same time!

What a Streambuilding training program looks like

Upon booking a Streambuilding Event, you will received a questionnaire about your team’s history. You will also recieve a pre-event assessment for each of your team-members to fill out and send in 2 weeks before your event. Jennifer will review the information from the questionnaire and the assessments to determine how to create a customized challenge course experience for your group.

When you arrive at the challenge course for your event, you will be met by Jennifer, or one of her assistants to check in and receive workbooks and a name tag. Depending on the length of your program, refreshments and/or lunch will be provided. When everyone has arrived (please be on time as we only have the course reserved for your group’s program and cannot extend the time if you are late. If you are late, you will not receive the full benefit of the program Jennifer has created for you), Jennifer, or one of her assistants will give a brief Safety Orientation. We will begin your program with a brief introduction to the Streambuilding Philosophy and then move forward with a few warm up Initiative/Ice Breaker Games. These games are fun, cooperative, and challenging. Initiative games are not designed to be competitive or to be a race against time. Initiative Games emphasize the more important objectives of community, communication, collaboration, and responsibility.

The next phase of the Streambuilding program involves the Low Challenge Course. The Low Challenge Course  takes place on elements a few feet off the ground and might involve spotters to ensure the safety of individuals. These activities promote learning through hands-on experiences.

Following the Low Challenge Course is the High Challenge Course. The High Challenge Course activities require participants to wear a helmet and harness as they will be “On Belay” approximately 30′-60′ in the air. With their team’s support, each participant will have a personal experience facing the challenge that invokes the fear response. We use this “fear” experience to help participants understand that fear is something they have control over when facing life challenges. Some potential outcomes are an increase in self-confidence, trust and the realization of the need to rely on others for support – therefor encouraging community.

A Debriefing/Reflection usually follows each activity. Jennfer, or one of her assistants, will ensure a thought provoking, safe discussion by asking meaningful questions. The purpose of the debriefing/reflection is to capture meaning and discuss the experience. This is an opportunity to reflect on the experience by identifying and sharing what we learned about ourselves and others. Participants discover meaningful connections between the activity and their own lives, thus increasing the learning. Intended outcomes include an increase in communication between teammembers, a sense of community, understanding the benefits of collaboration, and developing a sense of responsibility to the team.

Another aspect of the Streambuilding Program is the emphasis on Challenge By Choice and the Full Value Contract

Challenge by Choice

Challenge by Choice means that everyone is invited to participate voluntarily in activities and challenges of the program. A participant may choose to sit out , or only do as much as they are comfortable within an activity and this right is to be respected by others of their group.

Full Value Contract

A ropes course experience requires participants to be involved in perceived physical, emotional and social risks. It is
vital that a supportive group atmosphere is developed and that basic, agreed principles of engagement are shared by the group. A Full Value contract is a verbal mutual contract between the leaders and group members and the facilitators that expresses how the group will operate while moving toward its goals. The idea of a “Full Value Contract” is to have a contract that “fully values” each member of the group.
